Nigerian Civil Society situation Room holds Strategy meeting to discuss 2023 elections.

As we prepare for #NigeriaDecides 2023, the Nigerian Civil Society Situation Room (a coalition of over 70 Civil Societies in Nigeria) held a strategy meeting on the 30th of September, 2022 at Abuja to first evaluate past elections and lessons learned, and how to best prepare for 2023 elections.

The highlight of the discussion was the Resolution to engage INEC in open discussions with CSOs at various levels, adopt aggressive and massive voter education, engage relevant stakeholders such as security agencies, community and religious leaders, and non-state actors to stall impending challenges that may oppose the credibility and success of the elections.

The situation room calls on all the relevant stakeholders to assume their duties to ensure successful electioneering activities in 2023. The situation room maintains her stand on the appointment of Resident Electoral Commissioners of questionable characters.

The meeting ended with the members pledging commitment to upholding the principles that will deliver better elections in 2023.
